Try throwing away that cheap cap, leads and rotor you just fitted and nail on some genuine or Lucas ones.

on a more sensable note (from me?) the 3 things a petrol engine needs to run are air, fuel and a spark, beyond this they need to be at the right time, so go back to basics, we have spark so are the injectors firing? we will asume air is a given. if you have fuel and a spark you should have a flutter of life.

i'm thinking you might have a fueling problem or an immobiliser problem

Get big wrench and turn the engine to top dead centre the marks for the timing are on the big pulley at the bottom you may have to clean them off, once you have the engine at TDC you rotor arm should be pointing at number one ht lead, which normally is situated at about 5 o’clock if the rotor arm is not at 5 0’clock don’t worry it could be the next one up, just put plug lead number one at wear the rotor arm is, then follow clock wise with number 8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Near side bank 1-3-5-7. Off side bank 2-4-6-8.

IL Check fuel pressre 2moro there is no immobilisers fitted only things is i no it needs a new bit at the back ofthe ignition that my mates ment to be fittng tomorrow im tryn to get her all nice and tidy for selling to get my defender
