Hello,

Well a friend has been helping me work on the hevac for the last couple of weeks, we keep running into brick walls and eventually getting over, around or simply through them!

We're at the point of thinking we may not have done the pots right inside the motors when we replaced them.

Additionally, it seems that the heater unit and its various flaps and levers were probably taken apart once before and not put back right. My friend who is working on the car now had a few questions and has taken a photo. Please help!

"Looking at th distribution flap…. Hmm. On the photo you can see the amount of Grease on it, but it’s really sticky so the wrong grease!

Also I reckon the flaps weren’t in the correct place when it was put back together, so it can never work properly.

Can you check on the forum if there is an easy way to work out how to set the flaps and put the piece you see back in again without having to remove EVERYTHING!

Also you’ll see on the photo “unknown a and b”. Have no idea if they are meant to connect to something or not. If so , have no idea where.

The top cog was stiffish to turn by hand. Haven’t managed to turn the cog near the driver yet, will remove the switch panel first.

Also can anybody tell us which cog/ lever does what.
"

Thanks Data. I've probably had a look at most of whatever is already on the net, was just hoping someone who's done the flaps themselves can explain what all the bits on that ratchety thing do and how to physically align the flaps with the motor spindles. Not quite found that anywhere so far.

Don't know a lot about these but from what i have seen motors must not be motored until they are in position. They are assembled lining marks up on the internal gears. The only thing that is specified to be in any particular position on refitting is the recirculation flap must be in fresh air position when motor is attached. According to RAVE.

unknown b is for a cable as in the poverty spec dt which do not have ac have cables to operate the flaps not blend motors but all heater boxes are the same so
whether it is a base model dt with manual cable operated controls or dse with hevac and blend motors the heater box is the same

Thanks guys, that does help. Wammers, when we changed the pots the arrows would no longer line up. However as the pots are from Irishrover I would assume he's done it himself many times so they must be fine.
