Discreet winch mount - help before I start

It will fit, but it will be "snug" & you'll have to remove the control box & fit it somewhere else - common spot is between the fusebox & brake servo.
I've got a similar Warrior winch on a discrete mount in our D2.
Have a look on Urban Panzer's www. discovery2.co.uk website for more info & lots of useful photos.
Before you go ahead you also need to think if you want a steering guard & if so how you're going to achieve it - because i don't believe there are any off the shelf kit which will work with a discrete mount.
Dependant on the front bumper you're using you may need to modify thr discreet mount to optimise the fit. I moved mine up & back about 1/2 inch.
I've put more info & photos of my winch after install on the LR4x4 forum. You should be able find it by googling disco 2 discrete winch mount ( lr4x4 forum info on google p2)
PS found a couple of pics of the winch in situ to show the height problem

The problem is the control box would foul the brace between the LHS & RHS of the front of the body.
You'll also probably need to expect to modify the winch mounting plate to get the winch drum central to the fairlead aperture - but you'll have a bit more space than I did as I think the S9500 is about 30mm narrower than my S9500HS.

It should fit if the control box is placed elsewhere - I put mine in the box behind the battery, where the jack normally lives. You won't be able to use the free spool, as the lever will be hidden - unless you do something clever to extend it up a bit.

One thing I worked out with the discreet tray is that if you mount the side pieces to the chassis legs first, and then mount the winch to the bottom plate (assuming the sides are L-shaped), you can dead lift the winch into position and rest it on the side plates while bolting it all together. If you assemble the whole plate and winch, you need to support it on something while you bolt it to the chassis.

Cheers guys, have had a look and been trawling around the net.

Is it possible to cut the brace? Ive had a look on extreme 4x4 and their winch bumpers...looking at the pics they must have cut out the brace or something by the way the winch is ibset into the grille.

Is the control box quite easy to move? ...by easy I mean do I just unbokt, add lobger cables? I'll have a look tonight...just need to mow the bloomin lawn!

Cheers

Yes, exactly that. Inside the box, the relay is attached via thick bars. Just unbolt, and add long cables up to wherever you site the box - as I say, I put mine in the battery box where the jack normally sits. I also added a wireless control box, so I don't use the wander lead.

just a few pics. i have a discreet winch and steering guard fitted with modifaction to the steering guard. thought i would add some pics
