i have the chance to buy a 1998 discovery petrol with low miles but the rear wheelarches are rusty how difficult is it to repair and roughly how much will it cost as although im getting it quite cheaply im still on a budget thanks.

it depends on where the rest is. If it's on the outside rim, not much at all. but if it's underneath "above the wheel" and has gone through and anywhere near any mounting point for the chassis/body it needs to be patched/welded if you can do it yourself great just buy the metal and your away.

Or if they are in a SAFE area you could get away with fibreglass and resin and filler and then paint.
Make sure you cut all the rust off first though

The repair is not hard, but can be time comsuming...removal of seats, seat belts, carpet and possilbily some interior trim.

It may well be the tip of the iceberg tho. Best to have a good look under rear floor carpet.

If you really like/want that particular one then use it as a bargaining tool and see if you can get something knocked off the asking price.
