Discovery TD5

Hi all,
Just looking at buying a TD5 Disco and wondered if there,s any common faults that i need to know about or look for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Splasher a few things i would look out for are as follows
Check the rear of the chassis for corrosion that causes the area around the fuel tank to bow out.
Engine area i would check the wiring loom where in enters the ecu this can leak oil from the injector harness also the fuel pressure regulator located rear offside of engine block they have a habit of leaking. Make sure all doors lock and unlock with fob as actuators seem to be a common failing and of course sunroofs for leaking.Then just check oil/water levels and stuff like any other i guess.

Hope this helps a bit and happy hunting it took me a year to find the right one and in the end bought one with a few issues as mentioned above but had a warranty to fall back on.

Agree with all that - in addition check around the transfer box for leaks too, its a common area.

If it has air bags on the back, check that they are not leaking, check roof lining to make sure no rain is getting in above the windscreen in the corners, both my Discos have had leaks there.
