I am on the lookout for a used Discovery TD5 and would appreciate any help or advise to ensure I don't end up with a pup! I need to trade in my X Trail which is too light for my caravan and I have had Discos recommended.
Is auto or manual best for towing my caravan & horsebox.
Is one model and more reliable than another?
What mpg am I looking at?
Anything I need to check or look out for when vieving.
My budget is around £10000 inc trade in. What can I expect for this kind of money.
Thanks for any advice.

:welcome2:I have a 2000 TD5 Auto es 7 seater Tows supurb, Offroad is excellent not really done the mpg work out but £50 normally 220 - 233 has been best i have had.

I have td5 es 7 seat and get about 25 to the gallon local they are a good towing motor and benefit from tuning.Get an egr blanking kit from some one like alive tuning and it frees the motors breathing up also a de cat front exhaust pipe. For that money you can pick up one of the later td5s made.Have a look on "discovery 2" web site for known faults to look for on the td5.Take some one along who knows what to look for if you can.
