Hi everyone. I'm new to Landrovers. Am seriously considering a 2002 Discovery td5 es7 automatic. 102000 miles. deal being done tomorrow. My concern is the Auto gearbox. can anyone advise as to whether i should stay clear of an auto.

Thanks

Hi
I am new to Auto motors 120thou on mine and it's smoth so smoth in fact i thought it wern't changing at one point but listend to the engine in stead of the stereo and it was changing.. Mines a 2000 ES Auto TD5, I'm manily us it in normal mode but one a week stick it into sport a give it a bit of welly once a week. Don't know if that acually does anything, I like to operate things to keep them from sticking of seizing

I actually prefer the auto box when offroading. Just stick it in 3rd or drive depends on the ground im on

ihave had the car since April my mechanic is gonna change the ATF as we don't know when it was last done. I tow caravans regular and cars about,
cart see myself going back to manual, when ever i change motors which won't be for a while

Thanks Rob. I drove it and found it really smooth. Same thing tho. Had to watch rev counter to know when it changed gear. Do you find it hard on juice?

Harder the my previous motor Wich was a 1998 Freelander that was a good car but so many things started going wrong at the same time,

Not done the how many miles yet but normaly Put £50 in and getting 200-220 obviosly depends if I ve towed any thing, Went to the 4x4withoutasite ground last year From Henlow in Bedfordshire to Aldermaston using A1M- M25 and M4 Saturday With a Swift Caravan, went around the course lost ccount of how many times iwent round then home
think that was plus other bits 300 miles on £70 that was a few trips to the local shops for supplies aswell, Probly did about 10 miles on the off road site alltogether 26 acres i thik that place is that figure is from memory plus heavy traffic on m25 on the way home

I got the disco to trailer my series 2a about as would of been to heavy for Freelander
