Discovery td5 fuel problem I think

Hi really need help I have a 04 discovery td5 and its started to play up it's taken ages to start and when it dose I can drive a few miles and then cut out now here is the strange part if I empty a bit of fuel from the fuel fillter it will start back up if I dont empty fuel out of it when it wont start really hope some one can help thanks

theres some clever td5 bods on here hopefully can help you. it sounds like sir in diesel to me
I checked my 200tdi for air leaks with some clear tube from filter to pump , unfortunately it was'nt air but at least it eliminated that one

Thanks steve I'll take any advice as I'm no mechanic and just keep trying different things so any advice is good advice for me

Mick start with the easy stuff, change the fuel filter first and then prime the system - see how it runs after that, it sounds like air in the system to me. is your pump overly loud?

Hi sean thanks for the reply I've change the fuel filter and some one said it could be intercooler pipes so change them I've got the the none return valve for the fuel line doing that today
And yes fuel pump is load and constantly running the only time it gose of is when I purge the thing

Think you are on the right track with the diesel return line possibly being blocked,

Not sure what intercooler pipes have to do with it but it could be injector seals.
