Hello to everyone!
I am new to the forum so a bit of help would be appreciated as I'm not sure how to use it. I have a 2001 Discovery TD5 which I have had for about 8 years. I have had cooling problems for a little while now (loss of water, gurgling in matrix etc). Four days ago it blow all its water out and boiled over, I presume cracked head or head gasket due to warping. I have taken the head off which leads on to my question. On the front left of the head (on the right as you look at the gasket surface of the head) behind the first head bolt hole there is a drilling with a small tube sticking up through it. Should this have an 'o' ring on it as there does not appear to be one in the head gasket kit? The head is a 10P type.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this!

Is that not just a locating dowel.
Thank you for your reply. I have had a better look and it appears to have a ball bearing in the tube so I suspect its there to prevent oil running back out of the cam box and therefore does not require an 'O' ring. Sorry for the late reply as I'm struggling to know how to use the forum. Regards, Steve.
