Hi all hope someone can help as I have just changed my bias plate and springs but my gear lever is a bit notchy and quite sloppy can any one give me an idea on what this could be and how to sort it thanks
Daz

Not really there is a couple of wear marks but not much but it quite sloppy going forward and backwards not side to side

bias plate only effect side to side , if its looser than it was is plate fully down, seal refitted if removed, diid you remove top

I thought it was only side to side and yes it's tight down but what else could make the gear lever feel so sloppy as I don't really know much about discovery's I only changed the bias plate as a friend told me it would be easy

was it before ? did you remove top, can you get all gears

Well it was fine until my friend borrowed it then it came back sloppy and struggling to find 5th and reverse so I had a look on here and came to the conclusion it was the bias plate but it has made a great difference and I can find all gears they are a bit awkward to go down the box but I just presume that the plate is not quite set right but my main problem is how sloppy it is and sorry to sound stupid but the top of what ??

gear box top (housing that gear lever pivots in , bias plate is only there to align gear stick with 3rd and 4th, 1st and 2nd is all the way to lhs and 5th and rev all the way to rhs, there are a few reasons why stick can feel loose ,worn lever pivot bush , worn yoke ,worn selector shaft or would be worth removing top and checking grub screw on selector yoke

Right got ya no I never is it hard and is there any thing that may cause me an issue in either removing the top or putting it back together and as for the grub screw where would that be situated and what should this do oh and thanks for all your time
