Just helping a mate out with lifting a stock Discovery 1 V8, whats the best option as far as a lift kit goes?
its not mean to be a huge lift, but i'm thinking that a 2 inch suspension lift, because we don't want to put everything out of whack... or what happens with a 3 inch and taking the sway bars off? - will the propshaft potentially bind?
and then a 1 inch body lift so that it can fit 32 inch tyres...
can anyone recommend options for either of the lifts?? - whats the terrafirma suspension lift kit like?
any picutres or thread links of peoples disco's with similar mods would be helpfull!!

Thanks
T

1. You can get 33" or bigger under a Disco with stock suspension if you are willing to cut the arches.
2. The Camel Trophy Disco1's ran 7.50's with nothing more than a 'camel cut', these are good 31"+ tyre
3. Depends what you want to achieve. Simply lifting the vehicle will normally make it worse on and off road ultimately.

I put a more comprehensive answer here:

ok, thanks for the advice!! - nice explanation btw, nice and clear....:)
but was just thinking, when you put bigger tyres on, wouldn't it affect the castor angle, driveshaft angle, offset, and diff gears?
forgive me if its wrong but i'm thinking that a small lift coupled with slightly bigger tyres and cut guards would mean that less could go wrong, i mean if you go extreme either way, you are obviously going to have to change a lot of things??
Im not wanting to lift it huge and i get what you mean about changing the resting position, but changing the tyre size would seem to have its own complications, or does it not??

oh and about altering the guards, is there any template to follow or is it just mark out your own?
the shape of your guards is one of the best i've seen on a disco 1 as well - is that the 'camel cut' you were talking about? wouldn't mind doing something similar....:)
