Hi All.
I have a 96 300TDI. I have been having intermitant problems with starting it. First when the key is turned to start position all ignition lights came on but engine would not turn over. After a number of attempts and leaving the dicso over night it was fine for a number of weeks. The latest problem is it will turn over and over but produce no smoke and not start. I activated and de-activated the alarm thob and after 10 or so attempts she is back running again.
Does this sound like a typicall disco imobiliser problem?
Can i take the imobiliser out?
How is this done?

Thank-you.
Steve.

sounds like you have some isues there, the first problem is that the imobilser is staying on the starter and the second is the one the Fule pumpo solenoid. You could try and bypass it or find the imobilser unit and meter the outputs. You might just have dirty or bad connections somewhere in the system that is intermitent.

If you look back about a month roughly, you will see a few posts regarding Disco alarms, where I posted a detailed way to sort the problem.

yOU MAY OF ALREADY TRYED THIS BUT CHECK YOU ARE DRAWING CURRENT ACROSS THE FUSE CARRIER IF YOU ARE NOT THEN IT WILL PROBERLY BE AN IMMOBOLISER PROBLEM AND NOT A FUEL PUMP ISSUE GOOD LUCK:)

Try taking the fuel stop valve out next time it turns over without starting, if it works after taking this out, then I would imagine that its either, a sticky valve, or a sticky relay in the immobiliser. I overcame the problem by taking the wire from one output and soldering it to another that ran something else, the problem I had lay in the starter, so buy taking the wire from the immobilsers starter output and putting it onto say the fuel shut off I took that switching system out of the equasion. Never a problem since.
