Hello

I have a 2001 TD5 on which the rear air suspension has failed today. It failed after parking up for an hour when I returned to the car.
On checking FL9 fuse had blown, which I replaced and it blew again. Replaced it a second time and it is not blowing. I have checked the relay and this is working fine.
There is no noise coming from the Compressor.
I have opened the compressor plastic housing and checked that all the connections look OK. ( it looks very very clean so in almost new condition)
Prior to this happening the day before there had been a loose battery terminal connection, which I had originally put down to a flat battery as the car hadn't been used for some time. But on tightening the battery is good.

Beyond this I'm not sure what else to check?
Any pointers please ?

Many thanks

Hi, if FL9 blew twice it's a short on the wiring or the compressor fubar and the short got isolated ... unplug it give direct feed through a fused wiring to the compressor to rule it out

Thanks for the pointers sierrafery, I powered up the compressor as suggested and it was not working. Stripped it out of the Landy and found it to be full of water!! I opened the compressor up and the motor and dried it out cleaned and lubricated it and got it running again.:) The only really bad part (apart from some surface rust) are the brushes a lot of which had got a little crumbly, so not much left. Anyhow its running for now which gives me time to order some parts....
  • What would you recommend as an after market brand compressor that is reliable?
  • Can you get replacement brushes for the WABCO Compressor motor?
  • Does anyone know where the water would have got in. I checked the air intake pipe behind the light and it was dry. The Landrover doesn't get used very much here as we have been away so has been standing for 5 months unused. Assuming the water could have only come from the air intake pipe?
  • Could there be a way to fix some drain in the compressor or in the intake that lets the water out ?
Many thanks again.
