Hello all

My Land Rover is a Discovery 1 300TDi with 4'' body and suspension lift on 38s

I've been a Land Rover fan for many years but never owned my own till beginning of last year. In that time I have learned a lot about what it needs fixed, upgraded, and so on. Joining This forum will hopefully aid in my endeavors. I have 10 years of at home mechanic experience. (Several motor swaps, minor rebuilds, ect in the garage/driveway). I live in the north of Iceland where it actually put me less than 50 kilometers from the edge of the Arctic Circle

Without further ado, my big baby:

Welcome chap :) went to Iceland in 2014 as is in my top three places I've ever been. The 4x4's out there are literally road legal monster trucks, they're epic ! Will sort out some pics I took.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Yeah in Iceland off roading and giant tires is a thing of ours. Seeing beefed up 4x4 vehicles on 38s or 44"+ is a common sight here.

Since I live in a small country type town in the north (capitol is in the south west) having a big 4x4 is useful and often used; especially in winter.

The landrover was lifted and reheated by the guy I bought it from. Discovery and Defender are coveted LR models here. When this green meanie showed up for sale I jumped on it. The costly and hard lifting work was done so I couldn't pass the chance up. However as with any modded car, the previous owner also did questionable and half assed things. Ex: turbo elbow cold side was a pvc like elbow, no rear seats, no exhauat past the center muffler etc. I've fixed and relaxed quite a lot so it would pass inspections. It did and do I'm just building it up. Loooots to do. I'll make a build thread soon enough

Good to hear from someone in Iceland - a real tourist hot-spot (and I don't just mean for the ones that fall into the hot geysers or lava flows!:p) these days! As a 7-year-old living in Glasgow (now an adult with teenage kids living in Australia) I was always fascinated with Iceland - swatted up on all the capital cities and was able to impress all and sundry with the fact I knew that the capital city of Iceland was Reykjavik.

My wife bought the Landy as a new vehicle (2003 Disco 2 Td5) but I enjoy working on it now - almost like a favourite pet! Good thing is that there are plenty of parts and accessories out there with plenty of forums for good (and sometimes bad) advice. Wife wants a Defender - real women drive Defenders!
