ahh right, summat else ive learned... thort they'd stop using them years ago rofl :D bet the gaskets are a piece ov **** then?

The thickness of the gaskets are important and you need a Magnetic Based Dial Indicator to measure the depth of the piston. This is all in the manual I believe, got a c.d off e-bay and it was in there. Also did my gasket last year and found there were 4 thickness sizes of the gaskets but identified as 1 hole-thinnest
2 hole
3 hole
0 holes-thickest.

Phoned around a few part suppliers and was told there were only the 3 sizes but i needed the thickest one and eventually got it with no holes identifying it.

Managed to do the job myself, bit tricky lifting the head out, but easily managable, it is angular torqued but this can be done with out the specialised tool, with tippex as suggested before. You can use the existing bolts up to 5 times according to the manual but I opted for new ones as you don't know who has put them on before you and they do get tightened up a bit!

was advised that checking the straightness of the head with a straight edge and feeler guages was not reliable as the heads often go round the pistons and this might not be noticed with that method.

If I were you mate I'd stick to doing something you understand and give engines a miss. :hysterically_laughi
Hmm,where did you get your understanding of IC engines then ? How do you earn a living ?
If you came to my garage looking for a job with an attitude like that - and as little knowledge as you obviously have I would ask you to leave unless you like sweeping the floor.
