This has probably been asked many times , but I can't find a definite answer.
I'm going to look at a 53 plate discovery GS but I think it's a G4 version,
It has the special seats, bull bar, folding mirrors etc but no stickers, I've phoned Landrover dealer but they can't find if it is or not.
Does anyone know where I could find out ?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help

From what I've been able to find out, the G4 was a limited edition Discovery.
The differences aren't that noticeable, however the closer the fit on your Disco to the combination of "additions" as listed on the Land Rover Centre website might go some way to confirming your suspicions, or not.
On the mechanicals, the as fitted engine and drive train should be a 4.6 litre, 217hp V8 engine, five-speed automatic transmission, two-speed transfer case with locking center differential, four-wheel electronic traction control (ETC), and Self-Leveling Suspension (SLS).
The bodywork and externals on the Land Rover G4 Edition Discovery could be painted in Tangiers Orange, Borrego Yellow, Java Black or Zambezi Silver and features an all-new, larger diameter roof rail design called the "Aero" Roof Rail system. Full exterior protection includes the Discovery front A-frame brush bar and rear lamp guards.
On the inside the G4 Edition Discovery features an all-new "Foundry" trim finish that includes seats upholstered in "Black Mogul" technical fabric - a material unique to the Land Rover G4 Edition. An in-dash CD player, black leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as driver and passenger electric seats.
Much of the above spec can be found on numerous Discoverys, either as original fit or aftermarket mods, but if ALL of the above modifications are present on yours, and especially if the roof bars are the larger diameter ones, I'd say yes, you have a G4; there's very little likelihood of any previous owner changing the roof bars although the other mods listed could well have been made by a previous owner.

Thanks for that, I thought it would be simple to find out if it was genuine but even dealer doesn't know. I will try the Special Vehicles see if they know,
Can't wait to get back to rust !! I'm just finishing a TVT Tasmin so that's rust & nasty fibreglass with a completely black wired loom, TVR like a laugh ..,
