Kind of,

in the back of mine without the back seats I have made 2 sets of wooden boxes to run horizontally that can be lifted in/out for storage, the box nearest the front seats has 2 extra pieces of hinged ply fitted to it so when the front seats are tipped forward (3dr obviously) they are tipped forward ( making over 6'2" sleeping surface )

I'll try and post pics of it sometime if I can find my camera.

thanks, be good to see some photos, do you think the bed would be too short if I fitted a stove box on the rear door?

yes it would, but I have a 5 door.

my way wouldn't work then, even with the back seats out, if you can't tip the front ones forward you'll be limited to about 5'6" space iirc.

might be alright for some of the short arses around here but not for us normal folk:D.

i looked at doing this with my 5 door but with the seats right forward i found it a bit tight, 3 door is much better as the seats tip forward, unless you fit 3 door front seats

Barmatt can you post some pics up of your rear beds? i was looking to buy a roof tent but the one i want is £2350! so in my td5 im thinking of stripping out th erear seats and making a box section up that covers the whole area about 10" tall so i can store stuff inside it and at the same time have a foam matress on top to sleep on? but need some ideas first!

barmatt??

sorry that I haven't responded to a thread that is nearly 12 months old in the last 3 days but I have a job and a life.

I have no pics of my bed build as I smashed my camera and I've disassembled it waiting to build bed version1.1 but it ain't difficult to work out. make the boxes to the height of the wheel arches, the second box needs to have a hinged section with supporting legs that fold down when front seats are tipped.

If I get round to building the next version soon I'll take pics and post 'em but it's doubtful as I'm ****in busy till at least October.
