Hi,

I have a 2001 Discovery 2 (80,000 miles)

The ACE warning lamp is amber, and the local dealership have advised that the car needs an entirely new suspension at £4,500, or the ACE system removed and a non ACE suspension at £3,000

I have never heard of a new suspension being required - any thoughts?

Many thanks

Gavin

WELCOME! Go and have a surf around the discovery section of LZ. You should find some answers in there.

If the ACE light is amber then it's not as catastrophic as a red one!

Check the fluid level - it shares a split reservoir with the power steering. Check the pipes for leaks - they run into a valve block bolted to the side of the offside chassis rail, halfway along the Landy. The pips run to the hydraulic rams linked to the anti roll torsion bars.

It may be the pump or the filter (valve block) giving trouble..

Get a diagnostic system plugged in to find out what the fault may be - main dealers may charge about £70 !! but there may be someone on here local to you - put your location in your user profile - it'll display near the post count of your posts ;)
