Anybody abLe to throw some options at me???
Bought a 1994 Disco a few weeks ago, complete opportunist buy as it came along at good money and is in good nick with low mileage but was a non runner following a cam belt failure.
The previous owner had paid out best part of four hundred pounds to get the Cambelt replaced at 104000 miles The belt lasted another 4000 then failed again! I stripped out the old belt and replaced using new pullies including replacing the crank pulley for one with shoulders. Next job was to replace a couple of broken rockers and bent pushrods. Valve clearances all set to .20mm cold and looking good.
Motor is now running smooth and quiet (as well as a 300 can!) the problem is the car has no power at all, feels like my mates 2.5n/a defender! I have cleaned out the sediment trap, replaced fuel and air filters, checked all hoses in and around the turbo and intercooler for both splits and delamination but all is good, the engine is just gutless.
I then checked the pipe leading from the turbo to the compensator on the diesel pump, checked diaphragm inside not sticking stroke pin moving oketc. the eccentric control cone was already adjusted to allow maximum movement of the pin so no gains to be had there.
What can I try next?

Lift pump fitted still down on power.re-checked valve clearances and timing all ok really running out of ideas?
