Finished the discovery.
Lots of new bits, built for play.
Still got some ideas to be carried out to the engine, gathering bits for that.
Some pics below

Cheers bud.
Seats are mk4 Golf GT front and back, took a bit of work but fit nice.
Very comfy and supportive.

YES! it was that square side bolster that made me think mk4 golf, but out of context i couldnt quite be sure.

glad im still a seat genius anyway :)

f**kin top effort getting them to fit mate, rears too?!?!?!? :D

Evenin Scotia  gonna behave yourself this time ;)

Disco looks nice :)

Off course bud. Learnt me lesson!;)
Thanks for the comment, a lot of graft and I have my toy at last!
I'll get some more photos up next week after it's M.O.T.
Looking forward to putting it through it's paces!!

Love the lights where you did you get them?!?!?!?!

From the bay!!!!

TD5 2004 lights in mint condition, I still have to get the finishers, they are about £20 a piece new, might just buy the fookers as waiting on them come up second hand might take a while.

The rear door is a TD5 item aswell and some little bits of the interior are TD5 also.

Got my TD04L turbo delivered this morning, hopefully get it bolted up next week and on.
Anybody have any experience of running the 300tdi on a bigger turbo?
I know it'll handle it but I'm after driving experience as I'm sure being slightly bigger (About Garrett T3 size) I will probably get more lag although this will be compensated by adjusting the pumps off boost fuelling.
I've got the plumbing in for the propane although no gas yet.
Was thinking about going down the gas cartridge route (keepnig it safe under the bonnet)
What dya's fink???

Hi, I have a '98 300tdi and as a ridiculously tall git the stock seats are a bit on the high side. Your seat conversion looks the nuts, but are the new ones higher, lower or the same height a the originals? Looking to do something similar myself :):)

The seats sit kinda tallish..!
I suppose any seat can be modified to suit.
Your best bet is probably getting low slung seats that you like and remove the base frame.
Attach them to the disco frame.
A fair bit of cutting and welding might be needed though to get them perfect for you.

Got the Discovery mot'd and taxed yesterday, passed with flying colours.
Chuffed as a chuffed thing, but on the way to b&q sprung a water leak.
Teething troubles as all the pipe work is custom.
Ditched the said rubber ****ty pipe and made a stainless pipe with a rubber piece in it for flex.
So now to see what it can do on the rough stuff.
My only concern is the height, it's on 33" tyres with a bilstein shockers and springs kit which lift it 1" + the tyre lift.
I might have to make up taller spring seats front and back to get another couple of inches.
What is the max lift before you need to start putting on cranked arms and stuff?
Do they make that much difference as it's only a modest lift?
Cheers fellas.:)

hi mate

i had a disco once that had about 3" front and 4" rear lift on standard arms.

was fine apart from the steering was very light and it was kinda terrible on the road

tbh mate some people prefer different things to others, the best advice is just to fit parts and see what happens. i would say though for anything more than 2" lift cranked rear arms are helpful, 3 degree front arms are good for cars with 2" springs and no winch or 3" springs and a winch, and if approaching 4" or more you need 6 degree front arms

then also you will need a front prop no doubt, mine didnt last long before it was shot, and on a 300 you will need to swap out for a 200 rear prop.

cheers
