Discovery 300Tdi Clicking and stiff steering

Hi i have a 1995 300tdi disco, when turning theres a clicking from the wheel when turning, also steering sometimes goes stiff whilst steering not sure if the 2 are connected. Any Ideas??

check the uj's on the steering shaft they can seize

Clicking could well be your steering rotary coupler (/coupling), I've had two go and they click a lot left and right, ignore at your peril! Mine suddenly threw levers through my dashboard

right i have had a olok at steering uj shaft it seems fine, the clicking is the cv joints on front, also the steering seems considerably worse wen going left. I dropped into a puddle turning left and it stiffened up the not sure weather it was the drop or water what caused it. could it possibly be the steering damper?

You seem to have answered yer own question, or at least half of it :doh:

How deep was the 'puddle'? if water gets onto drive belt you loose PAS, hence steering "stiffened"
