* Newb question alert*

It's been a little while now and a few 'as to be expected' jobs later and I'm still loving my first Disco.

I snapped the original aerial about a week after getting it and I'm now getting rather ****ed without having a radio. Could someone please send me a link to a decent replacement aerial, and assist me with how to replace it? As stupid as it sounds, I have no idea what an aerial replacement entails! Would quite like to upgrade it to a longer/flexible one!

Cheers

There are any number of different kinds of car radio aerials on the market, including flexible ones.
One point though, when you are looking for a new aerial, be careful to choose a "Car Radio" aerial, not a communications aerial. The feeder cables are quite different and most car aerials will have a length of feeder with the plug attached.
You should find loads of what you're looking for on the bay.

Lovely thanks Brian.

I've had a look and have found loads previously, but can't seem to find one that is similar to the standard aerial - with the grommet to connect to the wing?

I was really hoping you'd reply with a link so I could hit the 'buy it now' button and blame you if it doesn't fit ;)

Ha ha, You must think I came up the Thames on a bike! I int that daft!
Here's a selection for you to peruse. What size is the hole in the wing where the old aerial fitted?
If the worst comes to the worst, you could fit a blank grommet in the hole and then put an "on-screen" internal types which would keep it out of trouble in the worst of overhanging trees while you're out laning.

Thanks Brian, that's great.

An on-screen aerial is a good idea. I like the idea of a big 'for show' external aerial, but realistically I drive under a lot of trees on tracks that are rarely used so I should probably go with the sensible option!

I'm guessing a car radio aerial will have a standard fitting to the back of my radio? Most on eBay either don't show the connection, or they seem a little different...

I'm terrible with electrics. Maybe I should just remove my old aerial and take a look myself!

Thanks.

Generally th AM/FM aerial for a car radio uses a standard aerial plug, something like the one shown in the picture.
However, different plugs might be used in more modern vehicles, DAB installations or communications equipment.
