Hi,

I will be reinstalling the back seat of my discovery 3. The threaded holes where seat used to be bolted into, are closed as seen on the picture. my question is, are those rivets or some kind of bold? How can I remove them without damaging the thread?

Thank for the advice!

Those are shear bolts. You can drill them out.

However those are fitted to prevent seats 6 and 7 from being installed, in a 5 seat model. Was it a 5 seat model from the factory?

If so there are lots of other components that are set up for just 5 seats (air bags, suspension, BCU, ect), so it's not suitable for conversion to 7 seats.

In the UK, conversion from 5 to 7 seats can't be done without a huge amount of additional components, lots of paperwork and approvals from insurers and so ok.

Here it's easier to simply by a 7 seat D3.

I´m trying to reinstall seat 3-5. It was an 5 seater originally, the previous owner took out the back seats.
Do you know the max. drill diameter I can use without damaging the thread?

Thanks

I would hazard a guess the bolts are M6 or more likely M8, so a 4mm drill and work your way up, I wouldnt have thought they were mega tight, so might be able to dril centre out and tap an easy out or a torx bit into the hole and unscrew it.
