Hi,we have a commercial disco 2td5 and have been having a few problems. This last one is annoying.the truck will not start .turn the key and all dash lights appear, turn the key further and nothing. Have taken the end off the ignition barrel and the centre pin turns when the key is turned.put the block back onto the barrel and still nothing.ran an earth jump lead from the earth on battery to chassis by starter as was told could be a bad earth but still nothing.then ran a live jump lead from the battery to briefly touch the positive on the starter to see if it would at least engage but nothing again.does this mean that the problem of the immobilzer is in the ecu itself.before you put the key in the ignition the red light on dash flashes every 3 seconds.when the key is in the ignition the red lightstays on permanently.have tried the key in the driver's door but the lock refuses to move.all doors lock ok and open ok with key fob but will not start. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks, ef

Are you trying to start straight away after unlocking the door with the fob and getting into the car with no delay?

Cheers

Hi,normally don't lock the truck so just open the door and put key in ignition and start.if we did lock the truck like if we were in town,we'd unlock the doors with the key fob and then put key in ,wait for the glow plugs light to go out and then start.so I guess both methods the key is put into the ignition within 30 seconds I guess.

1.
ran a live jump lead from the battery to briefly touch the positive on the starter to see if it would at least engage but nothing again
If the starter doesnt turn with jump leads it means it's fubar cos the immbiliser can disable only the relay so first of all you have to fix that

2.
when the key is in the ignition the red light stays on permanently
that means it's immobilised too though it should be remobilised when you unlock with the fob unless the passive coil is dead

....it seems that you have two problems not one

3.
have tried the key in the driver's door but the lock refuses to move
work with this, make it move somehow to be able to insert the EKA to be remobilised then find somebody with tester to check the passive coil or disable the immobiliser
