so my block is ready to start measuring pistons and rings

Upon stripping I noticed I have two piston types;
3 x TX ERR1387:

and 1 x TY ERR1388

limited or no info is available that I can find on the two types, I can't even find ERR1388 mentioned anywhere.

Any piston experts able to shed some light for me please?

Just honed or bored?
Island 4x4 have different makes and sizes listed, discovery section engine parts
ERR1390, ERR1390R, ERR1390G
Rumour has it that a certain very well known engine recon company is using britpart pistons with no issues.

Thanks Lynall,
I just glaze busted them at home myself,
I haven't started measuring yet but would prefer not to buy Pistons if I don't have too :)

can you find any reference to the numbers I pictured at all?

muchos for the reply

original piston did come in 2 grades (size) numbers are irrelevant now as new numbers were used for replacement pistons, though you should have only one grade per block

Looks a tidy job hence why I asked.
Sorry no knowledge of the numbers but like most things Im sure they have been superceded many times.
I quoted Island 4x4 as use them myself and decent gear, if something may cause trouble they tell me and I get the better one, sales ploy maybe? but so far I like them.

Pic hopefully might explain what James was saying above.

I'll get measuring then,
got a single standard ring coming so I can put it in bore top middle and bottom to measure gaps, hopefully all standard if not I'll be looking at a poss rebore,

the bores were quite glazed, hence my reason for honing:

The Pistons that came out had no friction material/skirt like a 300 piston-that normal? never opened a 200tdi before.

just sold my series 3 that I was rebuilding this engine for so only rebuilding to sell now.
