Pulling into the drive at home and the clutch pedal has gone soft, there's no resistance at all and I can't move the gearstick unless forced.

The master cylinder was empty so I topped it up to look for a leak from the slave, can't see one but I need someone to sit and pump the pedal to have a proper look. Have to wait till I hear noises from next door to get a hand.

Any other ideas? as more snow is forecast and the audi is ****e in bad weather.

I'm hoping it's just a knackered slave cylinder but god knows where I'll get one today.

Taa in advance;)

On a lighter note it looks like the Ashes are coming home:D

if the clutch arm fails then the pedal usually goes solid so wouldnt say you need a clutch.i would say the hydrolic side dude

When the fork punches thru, the slave piston over travels, and lets the fluid out-if you remove the slave, how much of the rod is proud of the bell housing? If it is just a few mm,it has punched thru-this is for a 300 tdi, cannot believe a 200 is that different-sorry to disappoint.

its not unknown for them to loose the fluid for no apparent reason..... mine did it a couple of years ago... refilled it and its been fine since.... local garage has known it happen on others.

I hope that's it, anyhoo can't see a leak anywhere just waiting for my neighbour to get back so I can bleed it and see what happens.

thanks for replies guys.

bled the system and the pedal has goes solid about half way down, I'm guessing that the clutch arm is knackered.

yes, no or maybe?

see my post above about the actuator rod-needs to protrude out of bell housing at least half the length of slave
