got a discovery 2 1999 4.0 v8 its idle is up and down like a yo yo and you can hardly pull away really need some help on this one

Clean out the idle air control valve.
its the round thing on the top of the inlet manifold with 2 pipes and a plug on it. Take it off and wash it out with carb or brake cleaner.
