Discovery 2 TD5 Cranking not starting

Hi all,

Ive recently brought a 53 plate discovery td5 es. it has been sat for approximately 6 months now it won't start (brought as non runner) its on 130,000 miles. I've put a new battery on it which solved my immobiliser issue, but then only cranked not started. it did crank on easy start. I've now changed the injection loom due to oil in red plug. gone to start and its now immobilised again!!!!!

could this be bcu issues ??

anyone know anywhere local or anyone local that could come have a look or yet I could drop off and get sorted to telford Shropshire?

If it ran before it was parked up it is far more likely to simply be a question of sh!tty diesel or summat. why would the BCU have suddenly gone u/s?
But then you could examine the whole of the electrics system for damp.....

Hi, first of all you have to understand that immobilised means no crank and red LED on the dash so as long as it's cranking it's not immobilised. Can you hear the fuel pump running when you turn ignition on 2 ? if yes push the throttle fully 5 times consecutively with ignition on 2 and wait untill the EML stops flashing then try to start it. If you can't hear the pump that's the problem

it has previously had sunroofs sealed and headliner was soaked

it wasn't immobilised but is again now ! yep done the 5 hits of throttle fuel pump kicks in winding me up

If it's immobilised with the red led on and no crank replace the interior fusebox to rule it out cos if it sat so long it can have corrosion. BTW can you unlock with the fob?

The closest landy specialists we have depending on where you are in Telford is Roean in st George's or Clarke's for landys in child's ercall

was able to last week when it started on easy start but now I can’t! Key in door job!

I’ve sent Clarkes for landys a message last night but gathered with the time of year there’ll reply next week! So fingers crossed!

It's somehow the other way around, every time you'll be able to unlock with the fob it should be remobilised, if you unlock with the key and the vehicle is on factory setting it will be immobilised, at this point replacing the RF receiver would be a good start maybe you are lucky to be that asit's plug and play then as long as you can unlock with the fob you are OK

Also it's worth noting that you can get into the immobiliser settings on a Hawkeye diagnostic tool to 'remobilise' when unlocking with the key....
I had it last year while on holiday, I ended up getting it unlocked with the fob and didn't lock it again after that

Yes but not while it's already immobilised cos then the BCU will not communicate with the diagnostics

Is Hawkeye nanocom?? I know no one with that kinda stuff!

JJ, Reciever is under head linning in front of the rear sunroof.
Hawkeye and Nanocom are 2 different pieces of kit. The TD5 is NOT OBD2 compliant, so "normal" code readers are no good.

I have a Hawkeye with d2 software but I can't just commit time to get to you currently I'm afraid
