Discovery 2 rear air suspension problem

Can some please advise me on my SLS problem?
I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery; three years ago I had both air bags replaced.
For the past six month when I turn off my engine, I have been experiencing my offside rear dropping down to the bumstops,
This only happens within five to ten minutes after I have turned off the engine and never at any other time. I can restart my engine and the suspension re inflates to a normal level.
This problem only occurs about once a week or once a fortnight.
Due to this problem been intermittent my Land Rover garage are unable to find out the cause.
Has any one else experienced this problem or explain what the fault is?

Another strange thing has just happened; my wife was driving over some speed bumps at a low speed. When the drivers rear suspension went down.
She stopped the car, got out to have a look and heard air escaping from around the wheel area.
She got back in to the car, started up the engine and the suspension re inflated as normal and she drove home. The discovery remained on the driveway for some days and suspension remained at its normal height.
Do you think it’s the bag or sensor?

when the car is on level disconnect all plugs in the compressor housing ... if there are no leaks it will stay on level for days and it means there is a management issue, if it will drop this way it means there's a leak somewhere so prepare the soapy water
 
Mine did this very intermittently but it did get to be more regular. I had a pin hole in one of the air bags where it rolls back in on itself, if the axle was at just the wrong angle when you parked it opened up the hole and sank, if not it'd stay up for days. I checked them several times but because the axle angle was so critical to it leaking I couldn't find the hole. Until I parked it just wrong and you could hear it hissing slightly!
 
I currently have the same problem...offside rear,but re-inflates easily but the question's are, where to buy ? at the right price and how easy diy.?
 
Got mine from paddock spares. Only changed the one as they weren't that old. I found them an absolute doddle to do, much easier than springs. But I'm a mechanic! So don't want to mislead you, it will depend how competent you are as you have to play with pressurised air lines as well as changing the bag!

Appreciate that. Mine initially would do it once a month. You could go thru all the diagnostic procedures and buckets of soapy water to no avail. Unless the hole was opened up by being in exactly the right position on the roll of the bag you simply couldn't fault it. It'd go up and down no problem and no leak. It was only as it got worse and more regular I could actually trace it!

Point taken. It does make sense to follow correct procedures first:)
 
Sorry about earlier reply, laptop is worse than disco ,i am retired refridge eng. can tackle most things, leak tests have proven problem, thanks for wisdom

u can find out if u do what i said...if it's a bag it will drop with plugs disconnected... if it will not drop with plugs disconnected then it's a management issue...not necessaryly a sensor, something gives an open command for the exhaust valve... which works with quite a "hiss" sometimes. U can also swap the sensors between them(disconnect the battery first)..if the fault will move to the other side u know it's that sensor.
 
hi be gentle with me first time user, got the dropping back l\h side air bag issue suspension arm broke-rod split from swivel repaired but once a week l\h side drops to stop . read the report on axial angle will give this a looking at but would like to know what the height on a discovery 2 td5 should be when at rest on flat ground in case the sensor that broke is making it sit off to one side
