Hi, Using the Lynx Diagnostics its fairly straight forward to switch on the day run lights. You need to have R5 fitted in the cab fuse board. Also there is a link in the R6 slot. The dipped headlights come on full when the engine is running and the auto box is out of Park. How ever the link in R6 does not affect the operation of the drl's when removed but it will prevent the LH/RH side lights from working. I can see no reference to this in the MY99 or the 03MY wiring diagrams in the Rave Manual. Also F5 fuse supplys the LH main beam and not the DRL Relay as shown in Rave. I don't like the headlights been used as drl's so I'am going to fit some Angel Eyes Switch back type to the Fog lights when I can find the correct diameter and transfer the feed across.

Seriously, we isn't Merkins. Why does anyone give a fu ck about day running lights? Quite apart from the damage it does to the environment having lights on when no one needs them?

HAVING LIGHTS ON WHEN NO ONE NEEDS THEM I think you need to go outside and take a look down the road. All modern cars now have them fitted and its done for a REASON. Older people, partially sighted people are all been assisted by these lights when trying to cross the road and judge the distance and speed of approaching vehicles. I suppose YOU are one of the many drivers who consider its not necessary have lights on during day time FOG as that also "effects the Environment" I didn't join this Forum to be insulted by the like of you. Do you respond to all posts in this Manner.

Wrong on so many counts!
Er, have you been on the "introduce yourself" part of the forum, or you just come on here to shout the odds!

Yes but it is still bollocks though. Shining lights is also used to hide objects in daylight in other uses. DLR is not the best thing in every situation. As for fog. Use the f’ing sidelights or headlights.

At least...
In fog or heavy rain, you are as likely to see the vehicle before the side lights. In heavy rain etc you should drive with dipped headlights and foglights at the rear. Riding lights won't do F all.
When I was a rep, if I was on an Mway and fog came down I took the next exit off. But this WAS before the days of rear foglights!

maybe I should get some of the angle eye fog lights ;)

just don’t tell @Stanleysteamer , sniggering :p

Any type of decent foglights are a good thing. I wish I had angled ones when we drive up the twisting mountain road to our place in France. Wish we had those headlights like the old DS s used to have that turned with the steering wheel, so you could pick up the edge of the bends. Or like on the old rally days where they fitted spots that went across the front of the car, to do exactly the same thing. Thing is when you climb through about 300 metres plus very quickly in the wrong sort of weather, you can hit mist/fog/cloud base in a nanosecond. So I isn't sniggering. Just can't stand the pimpmobile type riding lights that scream "look at me I am a dick head".

I think I should have put them on my D2, the amount of people who just pulled out on me they obviously can't have seen me :D
I once owned an old school Mini, painted yellow and matt black, it looked like a friggin Bumble bee. guy pulled out of a junction and hit my rear quarter, said he "just didn't see me". FFS anyway all was OK blokey paid up for (relatively) minor damage. He was a bit p!ssed off though. He was driving a R8 Gordini, demonstrating it to a prospective buyer. They are worth so much dosh now! (This was 45 years ago!)

If only you'd had some DRLs :D

Indeed , makes me wonder why some turn on the fog lights when alas no fog in sight, lol

have noticed more and more companies are doing angel ring lights for D3/4s , also see the D3s had an option of cornering Headlights , will upgrade mine to xenon at some stage , but won’t be retrofitting cornering lights ,too much involved

Have got a new front bumper to go on mine and will add some ordinary front fog lights for mine , osram do some Nice lights that are just plain fog lights

alas my pet hate is seeing low profile tyres on 4x4s , just WTF
