Discovery 2 2004 Landmark Air Suspension Compressor - No Power

OK, I mailed Foxwell yesterday:

Hi. I'm having a real problem finding out which of your units will allow me to /calibrate/set the rear air suspension self leveling system on my Land Rover Discovery Mk2 2004 Landmark model. I was originally told on a Land Rover forum that the NT510 would do it, but then I received a reply from your sale department that it was not possible with that unit. Could you tell me if this is possible with later units [520, 530. etc] or if there is an upgrade which allows it to be done with the 510?

Hi Sorry, the function you need is not supported currently by NT510 or 520 530. . . Emilia

I also contacted Foxwell on their website asking basically the same.

Hopefully the rest. Strange again from Foxwell whenI took the pics it was on uneven grounds. Not sure if this helps it would have been easier with the wheels off & I had to fire the lighting director afterwards

The problem with the TD5 as opposed to the V8 is the TD5 is not OBD2 compliant.

Your right of course but I have to select TD5 or V8 in the Foxwell menu (It won't do Auto VIN recognition due to lack of compliance, although it does on the neighbour's 09 Jag) so I assume it would tell you 'no can do' for TD5 on certain things or is that to easy ?

Griff. Thanks for the bad? news. I'm just wondering is Foxwell have circumnavigated that problem in their S/W. Better ask I guess, until someone says they can or can't modify SLS with this specific device. I really hope it's possible as the price is about 1/3 or less of the Nanocom

Can you confirm that the Nanocom or other device performs to my requirements Griff?

OBD2 refers only to the engine management, it has nothing to do with suspension. As long as Foxwell is loaded with the JLR software it's OK cos that's not OBD2 generic soft, you can't select systems or vehicles with that it's just simple plug and play which will retrieve generic P codes

The nanocom will do everything on the TD5 but I wouldn't dare argue with Fery on his electrical knowlege
Have a look on the Black Box Solutions web site before you buy.

Well, got the Foxwell NT530 but it didn't give me the option to calibrate the air suspension. No idea why. Once in the AT menu there was an option to check or reset codes. Can't remember because it was getting late at the garage and I didn't want to try anyone's patience. Whatever, there was no option to deflate or calibrate anything. Will be back at the garage tomorrow first thing because they need the ramp freed up.

For some reason the Foxwell is only displaying "Reset Adaptions" in the AT menu. Luckily the garage had a Snap-On box which did everything perfectly. I'll contact Foxwell to see if they can explain where the AT menu has gone and report back.

Yep, the machine is working fine. D/led the latest available version when it arrived. It's just not displaying anything in the AT section. none of the special functions are listed as in the image I posted in this thread. All the other modes are fine, e.g. clearing codes, ECU data. I sent Foxwell a support ticket yesterday. Need to replace the relay for the SLS, but I swapped out the wiper wash one for now. I'll take the old one to the motor factors today and depending on price I'll get one. I've got a couple on order from eBay just for spares. I'll try and use the Foxwell again when the relay is in, but I doubt it's the cause. It didn't find any errors at all. The Snap-On box peaked my interest.

Foxwell support now saying that the device doesn't support special Functions on my vehicle. Looks like a refund job.

I think the suspension stuff is in the ABS menu not AT. I updated mine to the latest software & the suspension calibration stuff is still there as per my original pics. Having said that if they say it can't do it that's such a shame as it's such an affordable unit.

Yeah, thanks Andy. I can get to the menu via the ABS, but once I reach the option to cancel or continue with calibration the box freezes, so no way to do either.

That's annoying but I suppose for the price, I think I paid £120, it's still a good addition to the tool collection. Does yours say if the ride height is incorrect? as mine tells me it doesn't need calibrating.

I don't have that option. I get the choice of LR or Jag, then Discovery and year.

Nope, because I've had if done now. That's kind of the problem I suppose. The Foxwell found no faults at all, and like yours displays that the ride height is calibrated already within expected tolerances, so I can't uncalibrate it to see if the box would re-calibrate it Beyond your pictures there is another screen with a CAUTION at the top and saying that the machine will check the ECU for faults and then proceed, and it might be good to turn the engine on as calibration will use battery life. At this point I can neither cancel [F1] or proceed [F3].

Come to think of it the V8/TD5 option only appears for the engine side of things, which is bleeding obvious really . I haven't been any further than the menus I posted as I didn't want to open a can of worms. I wonder if it will do the brake bleeding?
