Sorry if this is going to be a dumb question, but.....which windscreens will fit a Disco 1? Just Disco 1 or does anything Discovery fit? Will an early Range Rover screen fit?

Where do all the screens from breaker motors go? I haven't had a lot of luck finding a decent screen and rubber seal, so, if anyone knows of a source in the Essex /Suffolk/Kent areas, please let me know. Ta.

Had mine replaced in Feb this year for £115 all in - brand new and the guy came out to me - figured it wasn't worth the hassle of playing about with second hand screens and fitting it myself at that price

I believe a rangie screen is the same as the disco one but it's a hell of a lot of hassle to get it out of a scrapper and fit it. Better to shop around for a decent price for a new one fitted imho.

Many thanks for the tip aimbones - my son finally finished the welding and we had vincescreens round to put the new screen in. Looks good.

Cheers

Yep. Well, I'm not brill at mig welding and he was a complete beginner, added to working outside and being at the whim of the weather, it just took ages. We used about 8 of the throw-aways before I saw the BOC gas offer that was originally publicised on Volkszone forum and then on mig-welding.co.uk. It is for Y-size bottles, contact at BOC is [email protected]
That was when things speeded up as we were less conscious of wasting gas.

Is it possible to give a link to the BOC info on the VW web site, ive had a search but found nothing and would be interested for myself

Cheers

This was the original link :
EXCLUSIVE VOLKSZONE ONLY MASSIVE DISCOUNT on BOC Argoshield Light gas - VZi, Europe's largest VW forum, community and sales and you'll see that it says the offer has 'expired', however, that was dated September 2009 and I got mine in November.

If you use this contact information, it seems that you can still get your local BOC depot to do it for you:

[email protected]

Exclusive BOC/VZi Discounted gas offer

0161 930 6822 - Office Hours

0800 111 333 Freephone 24/7/365

Here's alink to the mig-welding.co.uk website with messages re the offer and feedback from those that have taken it up:
BOC and Volkszone - Gas Offer - MIG Welding Forum

Try giving them a ring.

Just saw the note from iannotts - Compared to the amount of disposables I was going to use, the deal suited me and the depot is local. I can't say whether I could have got a better deal from Air Products.

iannotts - where do you get your gas?
