My Disco is currently going to need new tyres for MOT.

It’s currently on a motley assortment on 205/80r16s. Should I stick with this size or Is it worth replacing them all with 235/70r16s? Do they handle better? If so what brands/makes do people recommend?

I see there’s a couple of other tyres threads going on... I just want which best tyres are good for a standard mostly road going Disco 1- 205/80 or 235/70?

Any opinions?

Factory fitted 205s didn’t look skinny on my old RR.... perhaps I had a small RR. :)

I will probably go with 235s, think they look better and fill arches more.

Any brands/types to recommend? Looking at mid-priced rather than BFG price! Doesn’t really go off road much (sadly).

Do you want road, AT or MT?

TBH any will probably do. Just have a look at some online retailers and see what you fancy.

Road will be fine.

Was planning on getting Enduro Runway HTs- there seems to be some decent reviews on them on this forum.

Have a look a Goodyear Wrangler HP,
WhenI got my disco it was fitted with Goodyear GT + 4 and then were replace with the identical tyre as required, but finally they were not available anymore, so I stayed with the same brand and had the Wrangler’s fitted, they are just as good as the old GT + 4, which were very sticky on the road, so no slipping or sliding how heavy it’s raining or braking so very happy.
The only time the discos ABS activates is on frost or snow covered roads, that’s when I test
the ABS still works... it’s like an annual ABS test.
My disco has only been used on the high way as fast as possible as slow as necessary.

BUT there’s is a down side with sticky tyres, that is I had to replace the disco fronts a 24k miles and the rear at 28k miles that not to sad compared with my company car which had 3sets of
fronts in 24k miles.

I'm running BF 245/75/16 for the last 2 years. very happy with the size.
(had 235/70/16 for few days when I bought my Disco, too small for me )
