Hi,
This is my first post so apologies if I haven't posted in the correct place

I am trying to install rear light guards on my disco 1 bjt haven't an issue inserting the single rivnuts on the inside. I've drilled through the sheet metal and hit a solid block behind. The gap isn't big enough for the rivnut to fit inside. I've been told I shouldn't need to drill anymore into the block, is this correct? Has anyone had experience with this before?

I know that I'm probably doing something g incredibly stupid like not using the rivnit gun correct!

Pictures paint a thousand words.

mine are like this, usually minus the mud:oops:

Are yours similar at all?

Why pictures? Genuine Parts lamp guards for the rear lamps of a 300 series are all the same.

Unless I'm mistaken, there was no indication that the light guards were a genuine part so a picture could have saved me replying and using up internet bandwidth

They don't fit mine for some reason lol

Were you aware that some durdy bugger has been molesting your rear end

Mine are similar but the other way around, the same which discool posted.

turns out that I just needed to amend my tool slightly so that less of the threads were in the rivnut!
I have them fitted, but I’m no help as the LR dealer fitted mine along with the guards for the bumper lights and those at the front head lamps, small holes have to be drilled in both bumper, (they appear to be easy to fit if you haven’t already done them). plus the dealer fitted the A bar and driving lamps.

I'm not gonna lie, I did considered doing mine and swapping out my recessed door handles for D2 door handles and fitting early D2 headlights and seeing how many people I could convince that I had the only 3 door D2 LOLZ

Not a bad look I suppose, if you likes that sort of thing ;)

Its seams a lot of grief be much easier to buy to buy a D2 although id quite like to see you do it ;)

I think only the door handles would be the tricky bit but doable ;)

Got more than enough on with it as I am and I really would like to off road it at least once this year LOL

Would be a real noggin jogger to the enthusiast/anorak types though :D

If I had a rotten 5 door it would soon become a pick up or a flat bed, there are plenty of 5 doors around still but 3 doors are getting thin on the ground.

What's up with your autobox? Not clutch related I hope ;)

Not sure what's going on with the box not long replaced the oil pump gears, wheels turn on axle stands
but no drive when its on the ground?? I bought it as a non runner non driving project now it starts on the

If you have the cash and the space then buy it all up and then get the 90 up to spec and make some wedge and the rest you can sit on an break for spares as you need or restore for your driving pleasure?
