Got a N reg 300tdi Disco that has electrical issues, but not like anything that has been seen before...

This is not so much a cry for help as I will figure it out and get it sorted but I thought it might be useful to share my findings and discuss with others as this might help some one.

Hazards do not work.
Changed switch and made no difference.
There's no clicking/buzzing etc when the hazard light switch is pressed.
Indicators work fine.
Horn does not work.
Electric windows do work.
Central locking and alarm work and never given any problem.
Interior light, clock, cig lighter, radio etc all work.
Has never randomly cut out.
Always starts when it should.

Now from what I have read, this is a set of symptoms that is almost impossible, in every thread it says that if X doesn't work then Y and Z won't either, yet on my vehicle it does!

The weirdness gets better though, I was seeing 12 volts across the bulb holder for the side repeater yet the bulb was not lit (and yes the bulb is fine) when the indicators are off, ignition off, key removed etc.

I pulled the fuse for the clock but it stayed on, yet no signs of any cow boy wiring bypassing fuse box etc.

I am going to buy a new multimeter, although the one I have has never failed before, and a quick test on some known good circuits on a different vehicle show it to be functioning correctly.

I have not yet removed and inspected the spider or MFCU as I'm not entirely convinced the fault is there, but I think I will do a check and re-solder anyway to prevent future problems.

Any suggestions/predictions etc gratefully received, if people feel it will be useful I will update with progress as it happens.
