I am very sure alot of people are suffering from the same issue that i have been having, after buying my first discovery.
The metal bracket that is quite pitifully plastic welded inside the glovebox compartment that the latch sits on comes loose.
Your glovebox catch no longer has anything to lock onto, and you end up gaffer taping it shut or something equally inconveniant.
In case there isnt one already i have come up with a small guide on how to pseudo bodge it back into place.
You will need....
the latch bracket (obviously)
2x m4 screws 40mm length (preferably torx or allen head)
2x appropriate sized washers
2x wing nuts
A Dremel.
With your detached bracket, lock the catch to the glovebox door and close the glovebox, your braket will be on the outside of the glovebox, dont worry we're not going to leave it there, we just want to know where the bracket sits behind the dash. There is a little bit of plastic trim on the horizontal edge of the glovebox opening.. make 2 small marks on this so you know where the bracket has to be for the catch to lock.
Move onto your bracket... look where the latch is on the bracket, on the adjacent edge to this there is a nice big square of solid sheet metal, between the 2 sections of 'mesh' where it was plastic welded. This is where we are going to cut a channel for our screws to go through. I say channel because, getting 2 sets of holes to line up inside the dash is a PITA of measuring and stuff. also with a channel, we can fine tune the latch so it definately locks over.
About 5mm from the lip, cut a horizontal channel the same diameter as your screws of choice. about, or a bit more than the length of the latch is fine as this is where we are wanting most support.
Locking the bracket back to the gloveox latch, close the glovebox again and measure up the length of your channel. Now you know how wide your channel is you can drill two holes between your markings... make the holes around half way between that piece of plastic trim, and the lip that the glovebox sits into.
Screw your screws in so that they come throug the other side a few mm. Slot your bracket on and loosly do up the wing nuts on the other side. Close your glovebox and make sure that the latch locks, if it doesnt you can slide the bracket one way or the other (remember the channel ) Once you have it in the right position, tighten up the wing nuts, close your glove box and have a well earned cuppa tea...
(oh and vac up the dremel mess haha)
The bracket (ignore the adhesive... that failed miserabley)
The channel cut in the bracket
Holes drilled in dash
Screws half way in, ready to adjust bracket (notice the position in dash)
Screwed into place, ignore other 2 holes, over zealous with marking width of channel lol
Shot from the underside, inside the glovebox
Shot with the glovebox shut.... barely visible mod long lasting
Hope this helps someone!
