My 1996 discovery alarm siren won't sound when alarm activated only indicators flash and inmobiliser sets on! Need help please

I have the same problem on mine. You might need to replace the sirens that are behind the grill, but I seem to remember they have a nut on the front that adjusts the sound, so have a nosey n see if a bit of adjustment will bring the sound back..

The 1996MY D1 onwards has the BBUS alarm siren/sounder mounted on the front o/s inner wing, the horns are behind the grill and are non-adjustable.
this is true. i have a 96 D1 and have the BBUS sounder as you said and when i set the alarm it makes no sound at all just locks the doors and the indicators flash.
not sure what the O/P is asking as the immobilser sets when the key fob is removed from near the ignition after a few seconds weather or not the alarm is set.
the only time the sounder sounds is if the door is opened with the key or the sonic sensor pics up something or the bonnet is opened when the alarm is set or is one of the doors does not lock correctly it makes a sound to let you know when you try to set the alarm.

The alarm won't sound when alarm activated and yes it's the newer alarm unit bbus

1. Faulty sounder or 2. the permanent 12v supply isn't there or 3. the signal from the alarm ECU isn't being received at by sounder.

Without checking I'd guess i'd go with 1 :) but u should test and don't guess. That would be the sounders plug connection 1st.
