Disco4 engine seize

Manual states oil level check message shows in dash display when it's getting low, this never happened. Only after this happens you go into menu and get a computerised display on dash showing how much to add but only after original level check message shows! Something's definitely malfunctioned and its not my brain!
Anyone who has disco 4 - do not trust monitoring system you may find its expensive if you do!

Apparently you can do a check on the oil level at anytime, according to the drivers manwell. Just out of interest, how many miles had you done since the last service before your engine failed, and please read and take in my previous reply. ;)

PHP:
No dipstick? Thanks for comments but some of you seem to mis the point; if you spend over £40,000 on a motor the least it should do is what you pay for? Automatic oil level monitor! Maybe shouldn't trust anything on it - screen wash level monitor works though bargain!!! Prob see a couple of you moaning about disco 4 on here in 15 to 20 years £'s!

We're looking at a new one right now ;)

Just checked no manual way of checking. Whichs begs the questiin: when was the oil level last checked? Prior to the sensors breaking? Sounds like not enough...

2.7 ltr engine you have dipstick and meant to check weekly. 3.0 ltr engine check oil when message on dash says - thats what you pay a luxury price tag for. Spoken to a few owners and some 3.0 ltr engines never need oil between services; that's what you'd expect from a modern engine doing 12,000 miles a year?
As I said before learn from me - don't trust the automated system!
Think LR now suggest in later disco4 manuals to check weekly, covering their arse cuz system doesn't work, cheaper to change manual than fix problem!!! They can blame you then!!!

Anyway getting a recon done and trading it in to main dealer :D let them have a head ache!
