I was looking for a decent interior light for the boot of my disco and stumbled on these on ebay... I figured id give one a shot, albiet it might be a bit chavvy and not be much cop!

It actually is perfect!

The cable that it comes with it is just the right length to take straight from the existing rubbish low boot light, and it sticks all the way around the top of the door frame with double sided tape and gives a great all over even light.

It took 5 minutes to install... job done... recommended..!

red... this is one of them things I never thought would be any good but took a flyer on one, it's made for the job!

will post you a pic

Help!

Am a technical dullard and have blown 4 fuses tonight :)

I installed this (well, i stuck it on.) Then I popped out the interior boot light and was presented with

2 cables (one purple, one black). Both attach to bottom of the light so that one is connected if switch goes one way and the other is connected if the switch goes the other way.

1 cable that attaches to the top of the light. It clips on next to the bulb.

What do i connect to what to get the LEDs working?

Thanks Guys

The black will be an earth. the purple will be switched live.

but one is the connector that leaves the light permanently on and the other is the connector that switches on only when the doors are open...

am still confused. Ideally, I'd like to be able to switch it on and off. The boot "door open - light goes on- sensor" is bust in the boot.

remember LED's are diodes.. which means you have to wire the +ve and -ve the right way round

gulp... eh?

oh dear... there is nothing to distinguish the two cables coming from the LEDs... but i'll look tomorrow afternoon again... i don't want to hear that click again as the fuse blows (and the radio asks for a security code)

nah .. there's not...

bear the LED wires and just touch them on the contacts.. if it dont work, reverse them...

I just did this then put the bear wires into the spade connectors and pluged them back on to the light unit. then poked the LED wire behind the trim.

hokey dokey, i'll play again! thank you

Woo Hoo, I ;ve got it working... now i just want it to get dark to see what they're like...

I had to link the LEDs up with the 2 purple cables.. it took some playing and some short circuiting... only 5 fuses blown...

thanks to all of you.
