disco v8

Hello people i'm new here but have been looking at the forum for some time now.

The reason being is i have my eye on a disco v8 2002 which is for sale, i have emailed the owner asking for any issues with the Vehicle and they replyed by saying the engine management light in constantly on now is this a common fault on such year or is there likely to be an issue?? also they have had the gear box serviced due to it sticking again is this a common thing with auto's?

be an idea if you can get someone to run a diagnostic on it, petrol only I presume no LPG kit fitted...??

In my experience if the engine doesn't sound totally goosed it's probably a sensor failure or something along those lines that will illuminate the lamp

Got a feeling that a loose petrol filler cap will cause that light to come on, there's a label on the cap I think.
