Good afternoon,

Started stripping 200tdi Disco transfer box today in order to check prior fitting to my Def 90. As expected the unit still has the original non-cross drilled input gear in. As I am planning on having this change for the long run I may as well ensure it is right before fitting.

Was going to buy the cross-drilled gear but thought I would ask on here is it possible to just drill the current input gear with the 4 holes? If so has anyone done it and what advice would you give me for doing it?

Thanks

Kieran

Should a disco with the 1.2 sticker on the rear of the transfer box have a 26 or a 28 teeth input shaft? Does the 26 teeth item go with 1.2 ratio and the 28 with the 1.4 ratio? Thanks Steve

Go onto ashcroft transmissions website and you will be able to find out exactly what you need from the serial number. You would probably be as well buying the new gear and bearings from them as well if you decide to replace. I was very happy with the quality of the parts i got when i did mine.

Not necessarily, some 1.2's can have 28t gear. Depends on suffix/serial number of box.
But as above ashcroft will know which one or remove and check.
