disco tranny box in 90

I am about to put a disco tranny box from a V8 in to my TD5 90, have heard the early ones were not cross drilled and not as good as later cross drilled ones, any idea when the cross drilled ones were introduced or a serial No.

James will know, be aware that disco 2 lt230 has no speedo drive on it and some didn't have cdl

i cant remember exactly but it was later part of the 90s ,but easy enough to see if you look through input seal, and if you want hi/lo switch to work youll need to fit a switch in the cab

as a thought did that coincide with alloy input gear cover/pto blank?

do you mean if i want the dash light to show when its engaged.

no it lets ecu know its in either

Thanks James, is it a simple wiring job or likely to turn in to an epic as it involves the ECU.

I can manage that, so would I flick the switch when putting in LO then off when in HI.

yes circuit through switch is made when low is selected as std and broken in high

Which way does it work again as I keep forgetting. throttle is more sensitive in High or Low?
