Hi guys,
image.jpeg

Iv got a 2003 td5 discovery and it started leaking fuel!!! It only leaks when the fuel pump is pumping so no leaks when engine is off (once fuel line dumps all the diesel first).

I can just see the connection it's coming from from underneath, it's above the fuel tank (see picture). I don't know if that's been a temp repair in the past or is it supposed to be a flexi pipe in the bend.

I had a mechanic have a look at it and he said I need a new fuel line and it's the one that runs to the engine, it comes as a kit with 2 lines together and costs £300odd that no including his labour. Does this sound right or is there an easier/cheaper way??

That price seems a bit excessive when it's only a hose and clip that last leaking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any way thanks in advance guys

There are two sets of pipes associated with the Td5 fuel system; the twin set up to the engine Pt No WJP10827 and the set of 4 pipes to and from the fuel filter and engine Pt No WJP108110.

By the look of your picture I'd say it's the return pipe from the FPR back to the pump, the whole system is at high pressure unlike the earlier Discos which use a lift pump system. The feed pipe to the engine is off the filter.
If it is the case that it's the return pipe then your option is to replace the cheaper set, 200+ rather than the eyewatering 300+. The garage will probably opt for a complete replacement of parts rather than repairing the existing bits. And yes, that does look like a previous repair.
There might be a way to manufacture or effect a repair using brake pipe flareing techniques to replace the damaged section, but since it's not a job I've ever done I can't be sure.
You can gain access to the top of the fuel pump through a circular panel in the floor of the rear loadspace.

First thing I would do is pull the green high pressure line and see if that's the one - 99% of the time it is. Only £42 from land rover.
Did mine last week - fairly simple once you know the pipe routing. Green HP line leaks when the pump is on.
