Out today driving my replacement for the old disco that fell to bits. Got a 2008 Vectra as a runaround till I can get a decent freelander (oxymoron?).
Anyway never had any problems with tailgaters in the disco or with the old defender that I still truck about in, But first time out today and got an aggressive old fart in an early disco 2 trying to get past me in a 30 when I'm actually doing the speed limit (not always an option in the series 3 on a bad day!). Guess he felt invincible with his mobility scooter strapped in the back, and not a little ****ed off when I let every car pull out from side roads in front of me. Twunt!

I quite often slow and let traffic out from the side roads, much to the annoyance of the people following me but I find the traffic flows easier when we all work together.

My pet hate is people who get to the end of a slip road without having gotten up to speed in order to merge with the traffic and end up at stopped at the end trying get out into traffic flowing at 60mph from a stand still.

RANT=ON. Must admit I don't like people who let others out of side roads, thats not what the Highway Code says and just confuses people. That said I'm probably (I am) biased as I got hit by someone who had been flashed out of a side street by the person coming the other way, they felt duly obliged to pull out and promptly drove into the side of me!:mad::mad:. Rules of the road are there for a reason! RANT = OFF

I know but when you are approaching a side road to your left and there is a person waiting to cross your lane to go down and a person waiting to pull out of the side road, I let them both get where they are going, it helps keep traffic moving both in the opposite direction and out of the side road, very often I get a thanks from passing drivers who had been held up for several minutes while traffic filed past that side road without a care in the world.

When yer says disco 1 and mobility scooter... I think it was @Nig

People who think they are being considerate by letting traffic in from side roads are also being inconsiderate to traffic behind them.

I don’t give a sod either way. Just stop edging out or not stopping till the give way line is under your arse. One day your going to lose the front end under a bus.

I ran into the back of a Morris marina van that was flashed out of a junction riding a GS850 in the late 1980's .
Never looked left from where I was coming just shot out , he managed to get straightened up , just, before I plowed into his back doors.
Girlfriend landed on his roof but fell off as he drove away, I had broken ribs and a bent bike, girlfriend was only bruised.
I smashed his rear number plate off and the police traced him through that but he claimed to not be aware that I had hit him even though his doors were caved in!
I can't remember the exact wording of the letter I received weeks, maybe months later but it went something like" it has been found to not be in the interest of the public(?) to take this incident any further".
I was doing 30 in a 30 and the police had a witness backing that up and who saw the whole thing.
From that day I always wore proper bike boots after the alfa 4into1 burnt my ankle above my trainers cos I was trapped under it after the bike went down.
