Disco snap off steering wheel?

I want to fit a race/competition style steering wheel to replace the ships wheel in it at the moment. Something like a momo/sparco wheel, im really struggling to find a boss from one of these companies to fit a 200 disco. Im also thinking of getting a quick release steering wheel for 2 reasons

1. security, figure someone cant steal it if they cant drive it.
2.I have some high sided racing seats that make getting in and out a bit of a pain and if the steering wheel wasnt there it would make it a bit easier

Anyone fitted either one of these to a disco? Ive heard that Demon Tweeks and Twisted Performance do them for defenders but cant find anything for a disco

Pair of molegrips will cure that problem...

Ring Demon Tweeks, they may be able to source something that isn't in the catalogue, or advise whether Defender boss would fit. The removable steering wheels were all the rage a few years back in the Max Power scene, until as said above, thieving scrotes started using molegrips instead. Still, another layer!

Now, you could sick a big spike on the middle of the boss, and put a chain round the back axle. When scrote steals car with molegrips, he'll be impaled on the spike!!!

I was looking at this a while back, there was someone selling on eBay, two different types. It was quite easy to work out what was what. Search for discovery steering wheel and see what comes up.

I'm sure there was early type/late type etc.

Yeah they are still available from eBay, username alexandertech-2008 I think.

Just looking at his stuff myself, problem is, will there be too much wheel offset?

The 200 wheel is very flat, only about an inch from the nut flange to the wheel rim, you're looking at between 3" and 5" for most wheel options.

I want to sit further back, but am concerned my favourite 4" option might be too much.

Did you make any progress v8disco?

well the momo wheel i wanted would cost 225 quid with a boss from Twisted Performance, i like the ones on ebay so its a toss up between one of those and a Mounteny wheel and boss kit from Craddocks that works out about 35 for the wheel and 15 for the boss iirc
the bigger offsett doesnt bother me much as the mountney is a pretty flat wheel and only about a 2 inch boss
