disco series II Vs defender 300tdi, reliabilty?

is the disco series II, really as awful as which magazine rekons it is? its main complaints are interior layout is ****e, reliability is shody, amongst a whole long list of other mechanical issues, mainly electrics, transmission and suspension. My 300tdi defender aint much better with consideration of its relaibility and mechanical faults, however th interior layout i rekon is grand!. but before considerin wheather to switch from a defender to a disco was wonderin, wat LZ members HONEST opinion was on the issue?

At least you will be comfier in the D2 whilst waiting for the breakdown truck

Stick to the 300tdi, at least when it goes tits up you've got a chance of fixing it yerself.

got a 300tdi disco, and all though i am always under it fixing something(eg newer an better mods) i have never been let down by it

hope i'm not tempting fate here but its always started first time an it so comfy its like sittin in yor favourite arm chair

would love a deepender for greenlaneing but disco is great for what i want from it.

got a d2 v8 and had a td5 and both never had problems and never let us down and they are great for comfort but the problems are in the first batch of disco's like 99 and 2000 plate ones but thats 8 years ago and most problems would have been fixed under warranty or previose owners exspence
