Disco Rocksliders

Is it worth getting a set of rock sliders and tree bars that DONT bolt onto the chassis outriggers? I've seen a nice pair for a decent price but there's no point me buying them if they will be useless. I'm mainly hoping to be able to reinforce my sills, protect my lower doors a little, cover the patches I'm planning on welding on to repair the rust and get rid of the plastic covers permanently.

can you not get chequered ally sill guards for disco? i got some for freelander and it covered the dent in my sill lovely

not sure if they do disco ones tho

I'm going cave driving in July so want something with a bit of meat behind it. Those covers might be a good idea as an alternative though.
