Dis you manage to weld with the fuel tank in place? Asking as there is a similar patch on ours. Only on the bottom and the sides are sound.
tank in place, passenger side, away from the tank, sides ok, was nothing really, i made it bigger by cutting it up and wanting to see what the inside was like,

more progress, stripped carpets out, rear 2 seats, front 2 seats out, headlinning, bare inside except for main rear seats as no where to put em as yet, pressure washed carpets(steam cleaner) seats and most of the trim, headlinning cloth has come away in parts from the roof mold, read on another forum that to strip it and paint it, so washed the foam off with steam, ready for paint, Dulux weathersheild, going to seal sunroofs properly and roof bars whilst i have it all out somebody has done it before but dont think they removed em just done it from the top, , got towbar back on painted up, new electric sockets and brackets, PS did it to near the mrs's Audi, had to wash that by hand afterwards after some funny looks! lol

I have the rear seats out on ours and the carpet and towbar. I have a mobile welder coming on Thursday. So I will have the tank off ready for him. Not sure whether to bother with exhaust. Need to reseal sunroofs. How long do you reckon it takes to remove headlining?

about an hour and half it took me, you dont realise how much stuff is inside a car until it is fully strippexd!,

todays play, sunroofs out, previous owner had sealed them from the outside, dont think they were leaking but the thick line of silicone on the roof looked crap, so out they came, cleaned all off, did roof bars too! waxed the roof then refit them with low mod frame sealant, all back in, got primer on headlinning later in the day as it was showery and hail until 2pm,!

Nice work. The sprinkler system is in full effect this week with all the rain. Liking the weathershield roofliner, looks great. Your chassis is solid, how does that happen!
Did your sunroof seal work?
Best of luck with it

as to the sunroofs, when i removed them there was no resistance at all from the frame to the roof, so basically no water seal between the roof and frame, the ruber seals around the glass i think rarely give trouble, always the main frame and roof, chassis ive brayed all over to see where the problem are, shock mounts were a bit thin so i plated them, and the pass rear bit, other than that fairly sound, but you could go on for ever really, 15 yr old now so things are gonna be weiry, next step once ive got it back together is a final lift on the telehandler and flood the inside of the chassis and a good look over underneath with the waxoyl and buzz weld to see if i have missed any bits

90% back together! last night i buffed the headlights up. 45mins per light with the 3m kit, well pleased with the job as they were yellowing bad along the top, rubbed the corner trims down and rattle canned em, well pleased again, refit side cill trims, new stainless steel mudflap brackets, re fit bumper, sprayed it with satin black and over laquared as it had gone blotchy/grey, new fog lights and connected washers up, trims on all under plastics re fitted,(you need loads of new screws etc to play with these cars) headlights in, grill on! looks a lot better than when i got it, not a bad buy for £700 with 11 months mot, just got to fit centre consule and clean the inside, a mate is dropping his code reader off in the morning so be able to see why it has gone into limp mode,!

Enjoyed that read, we recently bought our bargain, little bit cheaper but more to do.
This is my partners 3rd Disco but my first, there is something extremely intriguing about it. As you can see from the picture N/S damage and on popped air bag :(
