Hi, not sure if anyone can point me in the right direction?
When I leave my 95 Disco stationary for any period of time ie, over night when i go to pull away it feels like the brakes are stuck on, give it a slight push and then its fine. I am assuming it could be the Calipers, transmission brake, prop, diff etc etc

Dont know where to start? I was just wondering if this may be a common problem??

Cheers

Hi LR, the first thing I would do is to check and replace as neccesary your rear brake pads.

They may be worn down allowing the brake pistons to come out too far and get cruddy.
Answer is to take out and throw away old pads, clean the pistons BEFORE pushing them back into the caliper and then install new pads.

If this IS the case, undo the brake master cylinder cap, drain out some fluid to avoid overflow when you push the pistons back in.

Cheers and good luck

The shoes in the hand brake drum can stick on, mine did.
All i did is go underneath and slacken the shoes fully off then re-adjust to three clicks on the hand brake, had no probs since thats 4 years now.
You will get some juddering if it's the hand brake that's on.

Cheers guys, will check rear pads, does sound likely that the pistons are coming out to far, and the transmission brake could do with adjusting anyway so will give that a go aswell.

Also check the rear calipers for a build up of corrosion in the area where the pads seat as this can cause the pads to stick ....... if badly corroded the rust will chip off with a screwdriver or drift but this may then cause the pads to become a loose fit in which case i would advise replacing the calipers as you cant be too careful with brakes ;)
