Hi,
Today I gave my D2 and complete oil change. I changed Axel oil, transfer gear box, engine oil and the automatic gear box oil. Here I came across a problem.
In rRAVE it states that the oil volume of the auto gear box is 9.6 litres. I followed the instructions when draining. I removed the drain plug let it run until empty and I even let it stand overnight so I could get new washers from my local shop the next morning before putting the plugs back in. Overnight about an additional 1/4 litres came out but in my mind it was empty.
I replaced the plug and started to fill. All was going well and I was waiting for the overflow before switching on the motor and going through the gears as instructed in RAVE. The overflow came, I put in the plug temporarily, switched her on and ran through the gears. I then switched her off and topped up and reåeated this process until I had a steady stream from the overflow.
So ...the problem.....I was only able to get 5 litres into the gear box? I took the car out ran her a while and then checked the levels again but the gear box is full of oil? I am worried that 5 litres of the old oil was remaining. When you look at the auto gear box it looks too small for 9.6 litres.
Can anyone advise me here. Have I not drained the gear box in the correct manner or is there something else I have done wrong?
Regards
